"Booking Mike to be our photographer was the best decision we made! He captured loads of precious moments we had no idea at the time he was taking"
Photographing Sam & Sam's Wedding was a fantastic way to spend a September afternoon. They chose Deers Leap Retreat to host their ceremony and reception and Heather and the rest of the staff did them proud. The last time I was at DL it was to shoot the wedding of the owners themselves, Heather & James.
The three of us had met just once before for a chat about their day and both has expressed concerns about being in front of the camera. Sam, Mrs, mentioned that she unwittingly sometimes pulled funny faces and I sure captured a few of those on the day. Sam, Mr, was pretty quiet but spent the day with a big grin on his face.
A day filled with laughter followed the ceremony with some great speeches, more funny faces, beautiful evening light and a choreographed first dance.
My remit for the day was to capture their story, seek out those never to be repeated moments and shoot some beautiful Bride & Groom portraits. A couple of things stick in my mind from this day. Sam, Mrs, getting her words wrong during the vows, followed by some giggling and then gently taking her new Father in Laws face in her hands and kissing him on the cheek. For me being able to capture this particular moment makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. Happy that I was there to be able to witness and capture that moment for Sam & Sam and sad because I know he's now gone, sadly Graham passed away only a few short weeks after the wedding.
Someone once said the purpose of photography is to witness, to prove, to relate, to celebrate, to remember, my thoughts exactly.
Thankyou Mr & Mrs Sam for letting me capture your memories and congratulations again on your wonderful wedding, Mike
