Firstly I'd like to thank all of my wedding couples from this past year, 2016 has been amazing. I have shot more weddings than ever before, had the honour of capturing some wonderful moments, met lots and lots of fantastic people and made some new friends along the way. I have had my smallest wedding, just Bride and Groom, for whom I was a witness, and my largest, shot my first gay wedding and photographed weddings at several locations for the first time.

This year has seen some changes at MWP, no longer will I carry huge Nikon cameras around, I am now a Fuji guy. You'll see me with a pair of small black retro styled cameras, dont fret the image quality is stunning. I have booked my first destination wedding (woohoo!!) in Italy and booked a wedding photography workshop in Romania with the ever brilliant Lanny & Erica Mann of TWOMANN STUDIOS. 2017 is looking like it will be even busier and getting booked up pretty quickly, exciting! I wont waffle too long I'll let you have a look through my favourite photos of this past season. I did try to get it below 100, I didn't manage it

Saunton Sands Wedding PhotographySaunton Sands weddingOne of my favourite group photos of all time.
Everyone was in the sea for a paddle and photo. I waited until the waves decided to come in and splash freezing cold water up the back of everyones legs. I just love the expressions on everyones faces.

This was taken just after she had recieved a call from him wishing her a happy day. At times like this we should remember how important our job is adthat in year to come those we photograph may not be around. What we do as wedding photographers is provide amazing photos and simple ones of family and friends to treasure.
weddingwedding Ash Barton Wedding Photographer Michael WellsAsh Barton Estate WeddingI took this portrait of Jess & Matt just before we all headed inside for afternoon tea at the Ash Barton Estate.
Couple like Jess and Matt are a dream for a photographer, firstly, which always helps, they loved my work and then they were willing to give me the time to create for them. The resulting wedding photographs were stunning with several of their photos making into my 2016 Best Of.

The two dad's quickly became one of my favourite photos from the day. The ribbing and laughing went on well into the evening and I am meeting up with one of them again soon as I'm photographing the wedding of his other son at St Audries Park later this year, should be fun. Wedding Sand Dunes at SauntonWedding Sand Dunes at SauntonIts amazing how a little change in angle can change a wedding photograph. To start with I was standing to photograph Andrea & Andy at their Saunton Sands wedding but a lttle step back and I saw these wonderful shadows acrsos the ridge of the sand dunes, so I knelt and this was the result. I love this photo, sometimes its nice to have the subject smaller in the frame. weddingwedding Broomhill Art Hotel WeddingPortrait ReflectionLiterally a few weeks before Becky & Sam got married I got a call from Hannah of Brighteye Beauty asking me if I was free for a few hours on their chosen wedding day. Hannah was doing the make up trial and had asked the Bride who her photographer was. She answered with " we do not have one" They said that they couldn't afford anyone good all day so Hannah gave me a call to see what i could do. As the wedding was only a few weeks away and as I'm a nice guy and like to help out where I can I said I could do a few hours for them. To be honest i could have stayed all day, the light was amazing and broomhill is such a great place for weddings.
Saunton Sands Wedding Photographer Michael WellsA Reflection of Groomsmen Saunton Engagement PhotographySaunton EngagementA pre wedding shoot is always included with my all day coevrage options. Its a great way to meet and chat about your day whilst taking a few photos under no time pressure. Caroline & Grieg got amrried in Chulmleigh and this was a few months before on Saunton Beach. They both siad they felt a bit weird about doing it but felt the benefit at their wedding which resulted in a relaxed Bride and Groom. weddingwedding Pickwell Manor Wedding PhotographerPickwell Manor Wedding PortraitThis was the last shot of the day when I was photographing this wedding at Pickwell Manor in Georgeham. By underexposing the background and adding a little OCF, that's Off Camera Flash to you non photos nuts, I was able to create this shot of Colleen & David at their North Devon Wedding. weddingwedding North Devon Wedding PhotographyNorth Devon Blue SkiesOccasionally the sun shines here in North Devon and when it does there is nowhere better to be, especially if you are at wedding of such a lovely couple. Charlotte, Shaun and I headed up on to Berry Down above Combe Martin after the ceremony for bride and Groom photos. My couples always find this time a nice quiet part of the day after the excitement and expectations of the morning preparations and marriage ceremony a few mintues with me in the background comes as a welcome relief. weddingwedding weddingwedding weddingwedding weddingwedding weddingwedding Westcott Barton Wedding PhotographerBride & Groom SilhouetteAlmost the last shot of the day, I took this with the Groom Jordan pointing my speedlight towards the wall in this totally black barn. This is aone of my favourites of Kristie and her new husband and also quite amusing as when I thought about it later they couldnt even see each other when I was saying look straight at each other!
