For me, Lucy & James' wedding had been a long time coming, they booked around two years ago and it was great to be back at The Saunton Sands Hotel photographing their wedding on one of the hottest days of the year. They married at the hotel and then ventured outside for drinks with a faint sound of Oceanfest going on across the point in the next bay at Croyde.
This was my first wedding after a workshop I had been on with the awesome Erika & Lanny Mann of TWOMANN STUDIOS. I had lots of new ideas and so tried them out on Lucy & James alongside my usual style of photography. I don't contrive situations, nothing is more real than life itself and there was plenty of life at this wedding. The ladies in the morning were great fun and everyone was up for a party. Both B&G have very serious jobs so this was a chance to really enjoy themselves and celebrate with all of their friends and family.
As is customary at the Saunton Sands, we headed to the beach after food and the sun was still shining, what a scorcher. I even lent my suncream to Lucy so she didn't burn her shoulders, it wouldnt be the first time I've seen an evening lobster bride, not a good look for your photos. The sunset and evening light was some of the best I have had at a wedding this year and we, the three of us, headed back to the beach after the first dance to catch the best of it, amazing. Congratulations L&J, thanks for trusting me with your memories, M.
